FoodService Director Magazine, the premier magazine for informing non-commercial foodservice operators about innovations and innovators through trends, news and insights, awarded Parkhurst Dining Services Executive Chef Jeff Shaffer a 2011 Food Service Director of the Month at Reed Smith, Pittsburgh, Pa.
2011 Achievement of Excellence Award, American Culinary Federation
Eat’n Park Hospitality Group (of which Parkhurst Dining Services is a member of) is one of 23 food service establishments nationwide that received the American Culinary Federation 2011 Achievement of Excellence Award, which recognizes "food service establishments that exemplify a commitment to excellence."
The American Culinary Federation, Inc. (ACF), a professional, organization for chefs and cooks, was founded in 1929 in New York City by three chefs’ organizations: the Société Culinaire Philanthropique, the Vatel Club and the Chefs de Cuisine Association of America. Since our inception, little has changed in our principal goals. We are an organization based on promoting the professional image of American chefs worldwide through education of culinarians at all levels.
People Do Matter Award, in the Areas of Learning and Development
Eat'n Park Hospitality Group (of which Parkhurst Dining Services is a member of) received the 2010 People Do Matter Award
Presented by the Pittsburgh Human Resources Association, the “People Do Matter Awards” recognizes regional employers that are implementing exceptional people practices.
Eat’n Park received their award in the “Learning and Development” category for the Supervisor Certification Program, a leadership experience that has graduated over 200 hourly associates.
A collaborative effort between operations and training, Eat’n Park’s corporate training team, field and site managers work together to help mentor, coach and evaluate the supervisor’s assignments and progress. Supervisors participate in over 25 hours of training and are required to pass a certification exam. Supervisors who have graduated from the program help to support and strengthen our unit management teams, uphold our standards and enhance our guests’ experiences.
American Business Ethics Award, for Demonstrating Leadership and Ethics Around Sustainability Issues
Eat’n Park Hospitality Group (of which Parkhurst Dining Services is a member of) was awarded the 2009 American Business Ethics Award (ABEA) in the large company category (more than 2,500 employees) because of its commitment to team members and local communities, according to the Foundation for Financial Service Professionals (FSP), which sponsors the annual ABEA program.
ABEA recognizes companies that exemplify high standards of ethical behavior in their everyday business conduct and/or in response to a specific ethical crises or challenges. Entries are judged by a distinguished, independent panel who represent the business, academic, public service, and consulting communities.
Glynwood Harvest Award, for Connecting Communities, Farmers and Food
Eat’n Park Hospitality Group (of which Parkhurst Dining Services is a member of) was honored with the 2009 Harvest Award.
This award was created by Glynwood, the not-for-profit organization whose mission is to save farming in the North East, in order to highlight innovative work being done to increase access to fresh, locally-produced food and to recognize leaders across the country that support regional agricultural systems.
University Business Magazine Dining Halls of Distinction Award
A 2009 Dining Halls of Distinction was awarded to the Parkhurst Dining Services team at Bucknell University, in Lewisburg, Pa.
This award represents excellence in all aspects of dining operations, including atmosphere, service, variety of offerings, guest satisfaction, environmental sustainability and financial stability.
