Common Thread Offers Convenience for Lunch Customers at Philadelphia University
PhilaUToday

Philadelphia University has launched a new online dining order system, CommonThreadExpress, that allows customers to access a menu to order subs and wraps to their taste, add a drink, chips and a dessert, and pick up at the CommonThreadExpress window in The Kanbar Campus Center. Ordering hours begin at 7 a.m. each day, with window pick up during the Thread’s normal operating hours, 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

“Philadelphia University is one of only a handful of colleges to offer online ordering, and the first to allow students to pay using their meal plans,” says Jim Hartman, assistant vice president for finance and administration. “We anticipate doing a high volume of online orders as faculty, staff and students realize how convenient it is to order online, pay with a credit card or campus card and have their lunch ready for pick-up when they arrive, avoiding long lines during the busy lunch rush.”

Throughout this week, Tuesday, Nov. 2 through Friday, Nov. 5, CommonThreadExpress has a promotion that will award the following customers with gift cards:

25th customer – who will receive a $25 gift card to the University Bookstore
50th customer – who will receive a $25 gift card to Applebee’s Restaurant
75th customer – who will receive a $25 gift card to AMC Theaters
100th customer – who will receive a $25 iTunes gift card

According to Bill Zimnoch, general manager of dining services, “The menu offers choices for everyone, including several vegetarian selections such as roasted vegetable subs and cheese subs as options. On the website, there is a feedback page where customers can leave their comments and suggestions. We are very interested in receiving this information.”

Customers are encouraged to try the service this week and possibly win a gift card. For questions about CommonThreadExpress, call Dining Services at ext. 2924 or email DiningServices@PhilaU.edu.
