The DeHart Local Foods Dinner is coming up!
Food & Agriculture Resources for Meadville

The annual DeHart Local Foods Dinner will be taking place on Wednesday, October 2nd in Schultz Hall of Allegheny College. Prior the dinner, from 4:00-6:00PM, there will be a Farmer’s Market on Brook’s Walk, where students, faculty, and community members will engage in fun, fall festivities including pumpkin painting, henna tattoos, and a pie eating contest! As in the past, there will most likely be a live band and animals to pet, and there will definitely be tasty local produce to buy.

Dinner will be starting at 6:00PM. This year, the dinner will be featuring produce from the Allegheny Carrden in addition to the produce provided by local farmers and producers. The menu is not yet confirmed as to be sure that only the freshest, most seasonal foods will be served, but needless to say, it is going to be delicious.

Also an edible option this year will be samples of whole tilapia harvested from Dr. TJ Eatmon’s aquaponics system by his junior seminar students, who will be polling to see if people are interested and willing to consume whole fish as opposed to filleted fish. Chef Charles from Parkhurst will do a marvelous job preparing them, so I highly recommend trying some!

Ticket sales will begin on Monday, September 23rd in the Allegheny Campus Center from 11AM-1PM and from 5PM-7PM, daily. Tickets will also be sold at the Market House starting Tuesday, September 24th. Both sales will run until Friday, September 27th. Prices for students are $10.00 SHOP or one Brooks meal swipe, and $15.00 for faculty and community members.

Hope to see you there!
