Parkhurst Dining at Lycoming College Awarded Lycoming County Employer of the Year

Williamsport, PA, October 14, 2013 – The Parkhurst Dining team at Lycoming College was awarded the Lycoming County Employer of the Year for Community Services by Hope Enterprises in “recognition of the extraordinary support shown to Hope by employing individuals with disabilities.”

Hope Enterprises was founded in 1952. As part of its mission in enhancing the lives of people with developmental disabilities, Hope Enterprises established The Community Access Program which provides volunteer work, social/recreational activities, job skills training and life skills to people in Lycoming County.

Parkhurst currently employs five individuals who work side-by-side with food service and catering staff, learning the operations of college dining. According to Leslie Ekstrand, general manager of dining for Parkhurst, “Our team has worked with Hope Enterprises for the past two years. It has been a rewarding experience and a pleasure to know these special individuals who are always eager to learn and willing to do a great job. We are honored to provide opportunities to these people and to have them as part of our team.”

Hope Enterprises will hold an awards banquet and ceremony during their annual meeting on Friday, October 18th at the Lycoming College Recreation Center at 5:00 p.m.

Parkhurst has been Lycoming’s dining services partner since 2011.
