Pittsburgh, PA, March 4, 2012 – “Chef of the Year”, the most prestigious award a culinary professional can receive from The American Culinary Federation (ACF), Inc., Laurel Highlands Chapter (Youngwood, PA), was presented to Tim Fetter, a Certified Executive Chef (CEC) and executive chef for Parkhurst Dining Services at Highmark Pittsburgh.

Chef of the Year is a top honor presented to an individual who has been nominated by their peers and voted by a membership ballot.  Chef Tim, who is also a member of the ACF Laurel Highlands Chapter board of directors, was presented Chef of The Year at the chapter’s dinner awards ceremony recently held at Westmoreland County Community College, Youngwood, PA.

A graduate of the Culinary Institute of America, Chef Tim recently completed the steps to become Parkhurst’s first CEC and is currently working with the American Culinary Federation to become an Approved Certification Examiner, which is a CEC that has undergone additional training that qualifies them to administer certification exams to fellow chefs and culinarians.

Chef Tim began his Parkhurst career as a sous chef at Saint Vincent College in 2005 and was promoted in 2007 to executive chef at Highmark Pittsburgh.   Chef Tim was an active participant in transforming Highmark’s menus to reflect their vision of a healthier lifestyle as well as beginning a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program, which creates opportunities for smaller farms to sell and deliver fresh produce to our clients’ associates and other guests.  Chef Tim is also a member of the Parkhurst Culinary Advisory Board and Local Advisory Board, and also serves as an advisory board member of the Le Cordon Bleu Institute of Culinary Arts Pittsburgh Campus, and is a member of the Pennsylvania Association for Sustainable Agriculture and Slow Foods USA.

Chef Tim also participates in the national “Chefs Move to Schools” program, currently partnering with Greater Latrobe School District. This program is designed to have chefs partner with schools to promote healthier choices through education and serving healthier options.www.chefsmovetoschools.org

Prior to serving Parkhurst, Chef Tim was sous chef at The Duquesne Club and completed an externship at Oakmont Country Club.

Chef Tim resides in Greensburg, PA with his wife, Erin, and their two sons, Owen and Evan.
