Holy Family University Announces New Partnership with Parkhurst Dining

Philadelphia, PA, August 10, 2013- Holy Family University, a comprehensive four-year university that serves nearly 3,500 students enrolled on a full- or part-time basis in the traditional undergraduate program as well as students enrolled in graduate programs or accelerated degree programs designed for working adults, has announced a new partnership with Parkhurst Dining of Homestead, PA, to provide onsite food service management, catering, and special event services beginning in July.

According to Michael McNulty-Bobholz, Director of Activities for Student Life, "Reference calls to Parkhurst Philadelphia area partner locations, including a tour through Parkhurst managed GwyneddMercy College, demonstrated their proven experience with providing fresh, local, made-to-order food at institutions similar to Holy Family. This affords us the opportunity to effectively customize our program to the needs of our campus community -- we saw first hand that you do everything you say you do and so much more!"

Parkhurst chefs will prepare a variety of fresh and on-the-go dining options, including gluten-free and vegetarian meals with locally sourced food. According to Parkhurst Vice President of Higher Education Dining Bill Albright, "Health and wellness are key aspects to Holy Family University's dining program. Through FarmSource™, Parkhurst's innovative local purchasing program, we are able to offer fresh and healthier products that complement wellbalanced, nutritional dining, that encourages our students to gather, while sharing a great meal."

Partnerships like the one that Parkhurst has with the Common Market of Philadelphia help to support local farmers and to make local food affordable and accessible on the wholesale level. "Our local partnership with the Common Market supports foods produced in the Philadelphia region, all while we receive fresh and local products that Parkhurst chefs prepare at our dining venues in Eastern PA," said Jamie Moore, Parkhurst Director of Sourcing and Sustainability.

International foods will also be a focal point of dining services where students will be entertained by Parkhurst culinary teams in action. Our talented chefs prepare foods to-order and in front of our guests using authentic ingredients and food preparation techniques. Plus, chefs provide a culinary "education" as they describe the ingredients and local agriculture used to prepare the selections. Chefs will also make recommendations if guests ask for complimentary flavors.

Additional healthier selections include made-from-scratch soups and chili, a salad bar with organic and locally-grown fruits and vegetables, and homemade dressings with olive, sesame, and walnut oils, as well as balsamic, rice, and wine vinegars.

Parkhurst special events managers and chefs will also enhance the university's catering program, working hand-in-hand with clients, creating a menu, décor, and customized guest services unique to their event.

With everything from comfort foods to culturally diverse menu items and on-the-go service, guests can expect a creative mix of dining options offered with personalized customer service. "We look forward to providing an authentic culinary experience," said Albright.

Parkhurst specializes in small to mid-size schools and provides dining at several area Philadelphia higher education institutions, including Philadelphia University, The University of the Arts in Philadelphia, Arcadia University, Rosemont College, Gwynedd-Mercy College, Delaware Valley College, and the Curtis Institute of Music.
