GWYNEDD-MERCY COLLEGE PARTNERS WITH PARKHURST DINING SERVICES TO PROVIDE "FRESH, MADE FROM SCRATCH" FOOD

Pittsburgh, PA, August 20, 2007 – Parkhurst Dining Services of Pittsburgh, PA, is proud to begin dining and catering services for Gwynedd-Mercy College of Gwynedd Valley, PA, where students, faculty and staff will enjoy visiting several unique dining venues, including two new cafes, where they will experience fresh, delicious, and prepared-from-scratch foods by our world-class chefs.

Parkhurst was selected because of its commitment to using high-quality ingredients in their preparation of meals.  “Our students liked the ‘fresh, made from scratch’ concept,” says Cheryl Lynn Horsey, Gwynedd-Mercy College Vice President for Student Services.

The preparation of farm-fresh foods is a Parkhurst hallmark.  Foods are procured through Parkhurst-developed FarmSource®, a program that initiates partnerships with some of the finest farmers in the communities we service to obtain high quality, farm-fresh foods for our customers, while we support local agriculture.

“With the selection of Parkhurst as our food vendor, we have improved upon existing dining services and added two new cafes – the Pepperazzi® and Griffin Grounds - that will attract more students by offering additional places for them to gather and enjoy the Gold Standards of meal delivery for which Parkhurst is known,” says Dr. Horsey.

The Pepperazzi® Café will offer made-from-scratch fresh-dough pizzas, calzones, and strombolis baked in a wood-fired brick oven; while the Griffin Grounds Café, will offer Seattle’s Best® espresso-based beverages, flavored coffees and “on-the-go” breakfast and lunch selections like muffins, pastries, cookies, sandwiches, salads and fruit.

The newly renovated main dining room will feature many Parkhurst-developed concepts such as Bravisimo®, cooked-to-order fajitas, stir-fries, pasta, grains, and rice dishes from around the world; the Parkside Diner, home-style and ethnic-style foods prepared with traditional ingredients; and Showcase Salads®, fresh, no pre-cut purchased produce, only organic and locally grown fruits and vegetables with healthy toppings and home-made dressings.

Formerly a grab-and-go venue, The Saint Bernard Grill will provide sit-down or to-go service featuring the Sequoia Grill®, hot off the grill items including fresh, never frozen burgers, East Street Deli™, and Starbucks “We Proudly Brew” coffee program.

“Students are very excited about new dining services and are eagerly anticipating the culinary delights that Parkhurst will offer this fall semester,” adds Dr. Horsey.
