Parkhurst Dining at Capital University prides itself on offering fresh, distinctive cuisine and top-notch service to students, faculty and staff that patronize its four campus eateries.

This fall, they introduced new food options and a refreshed look sure to entice even the finickiest foodie.

The Capital Court

Diners who visit the Capital Court (commonly called the MDR), located in the Harry C. Moores Campus Center, will find a new dessert station where their favorite ice creams, cookies, cakes and pies are located in one delectable space.

Those who are more calorically aware will be delighted to find the new fruit stand, which will colorfully display a wide variety of fresh fruit choices offered daily. The newly added whole grain, hummus, and dip bar offers vegetarians, vegans and others different varieties of freshly made hummus and other dips, whole grain salads, and toasted pita and bagel chips.

"We are sure that this station will be a hit with our non-meat-eaters," said Shane Green, general manager of Parkhurst Dining at Capital University.

Understanding that food isn't the only component of a satisfying dining experience, Parkhurst worked with Pepsi to replace several of the fountain machines with larger, new machines, allowing the addition of Gatorade and low calorie drink options.

Offering guests a feast for a sense beyond taste, the staff has introduced a visual refresh to the Capital Court, featuring new artwork throughout the dining room and a new communication board next to the Main Event station. This communication board will be used to display pertinent student information and comment cards.

Remember, the Capital Court welcomes faculty and staff.

During the month of September, chefs are featuring some delicious "action stations," where guests choose the ingredients, and chefs cook the meal to order. So far, action stations have featured pasta dishes and meals made from Ohio-grown ingredients. There will be a fajita action station on Tuesday, September 18, and a build-your-own pancake bar during lunch at the Mongo Bongos station on Wednesday, September 26.

Cru Brew Café

A little farther north on campus, the Cru Brew Café, located Saylor-Ackermann Hall, also has added new menu items and upgrades. Those on the go but in need of fuel will find an expanded selection of Starbucks offerings, including frappuccinos, Starbucks iced coffee, Blonde Roast coffee, and new Tazo tea flavors. Also added to the Cru Brew menu are new flavors of fresh fruit smoothies made with real fruit and all natural ingredients. Supplement powders can be added to give you a boost of protein, energy and immune system support. New smoothie flavors include:

  • orange creme
  • peach mango
  • strawberry banana
  • blueberry supreme
  • banana berry

The Mezz

Those who choose to munch in the Mezz will find new fare with enough flavor, color and variety to match the energy of the dynamic social gatherings frequently held there. The menu now features freshly made-to-order pastas, pizzas and salads. Guests get to choose their protein, vegetables and sauces, and chefs then cook the dish to order, giving students many fresh options.
