Parkhurst, Chatham University launches student-athlete wellness program

Menu options selected with student athletes in mind.

Sept. 13—‹In a move designed to promote student-athlete welfare andenhance the student-athlete experience, the athletics department atChatham University, in Pittsburgh, and Parkhurst Dining, which managesfoodservice at the university, have come together to launch theStudent-Athlete Nutritional Gameplan.

The Nutritional Gameplan is designed to assist student-athletes withmaking healthy nutritional choices each time they visit one of Chatham’sthree dining facilities. The program logo of a purple Cougar head—the university’s mascot—denotesthe plan’s menu items. Menu options that qualify for the NutritionalGameplan vary with each meal and are selected with the caloric,physiological and exertion replacement needs of student-athletesin mind.

“Parkhurst is really excited to be part of the Nutritional Gameplan atChatham University,² said General Manager Leslie Ekstrand. “Whileproviding healthy options for student-athletes, we are also seeing otherstudents make better choices.The simplicity of using our new brand logoon our daily menus makes it a easy for everyone to know what is on theGameplan for that meal.”
