Pittsburgh-Area Cooking Classes Stoke Children’s Enthusiasm for Culinary Arts

Parkhurst Executive Chef Cameron Clegg, who operates the kitchen at Highmark, says children are likely to be more adventurous about food when they have a hand in every aspect of its preparation. It also helps get them past the “ewww” factor, says Clegg, of Castle Shannon, who is teaching four sons, ages 4 to 9, to cook.

“If you involve kids in the process, beginning with shopping or grabbing something from the garden, it encourages them to eat,” says Clegg.
