Parkhurst Dining Services, the institutional food service division of Homestead-based Eat ‘n Park Hospitality Group, has landed a new college contract.

The company announced this week that Lycoming College, a liberal arts institution of 1,400 students in Williamsport, Lycoming County, in north central Pennsylvania, has hired Parkhurst.

Dr. Sue Gaylor, Lycoming’s vice president for administration and planning, said the college hired Parkhurst for its “fresh, healthy and personalized culinary approach to dining” along with its emphasis on environmental issues, sustainability and local agriculture. In a prepared statement, Nick Zolak, the general manger of dining services at Lycoming for Parkhurst, pledged to buy 37 to 40 percent of its food from local vendors and farmers.

As part of the new agreement with Lycoming College, Parkhurst will renovate its Wertz Student Center dining hall in the next few months to feature four food stations, and a host of other features that include a salad bar and deli and Parkhurst’s “Hemisflavors” dining program which offers more than 1,000 recipes of cuisines from throughout the world.

Lycoming College is one of a growing number of small to mid-sized schools and universities served by Parkhurst. Others include: Allegheny College, Bucknell University and Washington & Jefferson College.
